Stewart Update

It's hard to keep up with this blogging stuff. I just looked back and saw that it has been two months since I last wrote about Stewart. When we last saw him, Stewart had been in the hospital during his time at the MTC.
Since then he has recovered fully, finished up the MTC, and departed for Chile on July 21st.
They arrived in Dallas and were to have caught an overnight flight to Santiago but the flight was cancelled. the next flight would not be for 24 hours. So, the missionaries were put up at a nearby hotel where they made phone calls and hung out for a day.
The following night they caught their flight to Santiago. It was a 10 hour flight and they all arrived safely. From Santiago Stewart caught another flight to Concepcion where he was met at the airport and taken to the Mission Home. There he got to meet (again) his Mission President and his wife, and was then assigned his new companion.

Stewart and his companion, Elder Measom, were assigned to Lagunillas, Chile, a small town north of the larger city of Coronel. Elder Measom had already been there for some time an is the Senior Companion and Stewart is his new Greenie.

Stewart said that he did not really experience any culture shock being in Chile; he descibes it as being alot like the area of Mesa Drive and Broadway, here in Mesa.

It has ben cold and rainy in the Concecion area but Stewart is dealing with it well. His e-mails are always upbeat and he has a great attitude. He loves the work, the people and the place.

He and Elder Measom recently had a baptism with more scheduled in the near future and they are teaching alot of people.

Thanks for the pictures! They bring back lots of good memories for me since I served in a nearby area. It looks like he is doing an awesome job!
