The next day, Taylor's car was taken in to the shop for some coolant issues. It seems she forgot to tell me about the red temperature light that had been on for several days. When the mechanic looked at it he found engine oil in the coolant. Is that bad? The head was cracked and the engine was toast. Time to look for a new car......
Today I found that new car. Although I was tempted to just have the girl walk or ride a bike, I found that that was not really very practical. So I bought another car and this time Taylor will take much better care of it.
The car is actually much nicer than I expected to buy but the price was right and it was in the range I was willing to spend. It is a 2000 Chevy Impala LS. It is in very good condition in spite of it's 127K miles. The guy I bought it from was the original owner and he babied it every day of its life. Leather interior, heated seats, V6 engine, power everything......
I also replaced the truck recently...We bought a 2004 Chevy Silverado Super Crew Z71 4X4....It takes a little work to keep it clear in Stewart's mind who's truck this really is!
And lastly, the Tempe PD replaced its entire fleet of Kawasaki M/C's with new 2007 Honda ST1300P motorcycles. Kawasaki stopped making the police motor in 2005 so every one is searching for a replacement motorcycle. The Honda has emerged as the front runner in police bikes.

The motorcycle comes from the factory pretty much plain vanilla white. I designed the graphics package that is applied to the m/c's so i guess that will be my legacy to the PD for thenext 20 or so years.
We still have the Altima and the Harley and there are no more changes in sight for the next forseeable future..........
