Laughlin 2007

On Friday November 16th, Angela and I left on a three day motorcycle trip to Laughlin, NV with a small group of friends from work; Mitch and Dru Lanoue, Jack and Sandy Rall, Joe and Linda Tritschler, and Joe Bathen. We logged about 1000 miles, ate tons of good food, laughed and laughed, and really enjoyed the weekend.

Our fist stop ws in Wickenburg, AZ for lunch. We had decided that chain restaraunts were not going to be a part of this trip as we wanted to enjoy the small mom and pop places, as best we could.
We found a little cafe along the main drag and enjoyed a good lunch. Some had breakfast for lunch but thats another story.

After leaving Wickenburg we headed on to Wikiup (sp?) for a pit stop and then to Laughlin.

Being that we are not drinkers, smokers, or gamblers, there was not a whole lot for us to do in Laughlin. We watched our friends drink too much and lose too much money tho....

On Saturday we took a 100 mile cruise up the road to Las Vegas. We visited the HD shop in Henderson, NV. where the girls did some impromptu shopping.

We then went to the Harley Davidson Cafe located on the strip. The atmosphere was cool; it was like the hard Rock Cafe but with a Harley theme instead of music. The food was bland and way overpriced but the place itself was cool.

On the way back to Laughlin, the temps began to drop and the girls got chilly so we pulled over and they all leathered up. What a tough looking group of women!!!

On the way home, stopped in the old town of Oatman, AZ. Oatman is an old mining town that blossomed while Route 66 snaked its way along from the east to the west. However, much like Radiator Springs, in the movie Cars, it died when the interstate was built and the town was bypassed. It now survives on the tourists who come through to buy T-shirts and see the wild burros who walk the streets. No, I did not hit this one on the M/C (see the story about hitting the deer). He was just taking a nap.

Angela fed the burros some carrots that you can buy in any of the shops. If you have carrots but ignore the burros they will get your attention. One of them latched onto Angela's purse while it was over her shoulder and started tugging on it.

The trip was alot of fun. There were a few mechanical issues that arose but none of them involved me this time. We have alot of fun going on M/C trips together and we have seen places and been to places we never would have gone to otherwise.
